THE BAY, BELLARINE & SURF COAST POSTIE CHALLENGE – 11th, 12th & 13th OCTOBER, 2019

Dear Friend of the Male Bag Foundation.

In October The Male Bag Foundation will be hosting a 3 day hub ride in the Geelong area. We hope we can entice you to join us for all 3 days, or to ride a single day if necessary. The ride will be full of fun and fellowship as well as a bit of fundraising, both on and off the posties.

Day 1. Depart early from Stradbroke Park, Burke Road, Kew to ride via the bayside suburbs to Sorrento. A ferry ride, including lunch, to Queenscliff, then on to Pt Lonsdale, Barwon Heads, and Torquay, finishing in Geelong. A night of entertainment at the Little Creatures Brew House, with a tour, food and drinks supplied. Overnight at the Riverglen Holiday Park.

Day 2. Breakfast at Cafe R n R, then ride the Great Ocean Road via Anglesea to Lorne for morning tea at the Grandma Shields Bakery and on to Apollo Bay for lunch. Into the Otway Ranges via Skene’s Creek, Otway Ranges and Birregurra, where we will participate in the Festival and Art Show before returning to Geelong via Winchelsea.  The day culminates with a surprise fundraising dinner in Cat Country that night!?

Day 3. Breakfast again at Cafe R n R, before heading to Drysdale via the Portarlington Rd. On to St Leonards, Indented Heads and the Jack Rabbit Winery for lunch with partners. Home to Melbourne via Eastern Beach and the Princes Highway.

+ You need to access an ex-Australia Post motorcycle, but we can arrange hire of a bike if necessary.

+ It will cost you $550 which is all inclusive and covers: entry fee and insurance, event apparel, petrol, all meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner and morning tea) events and accommodation.

+ We have mechanical service on hand for minor repairs, and a spare bike for a major breakdown.

+ Each rider is expected to raise a minimum of $1000 in sponsorship and donations for the MBF’s work with prostate cancer.

The Male Bag Ride, October 2018

Building on Success

The Male Bag Ride 2018 followed in the tread marks of our 2013 trans-Australian ride from Perth to Melbourne, a ride in Tasmania, followed by rides in Gippsland and the Murray River and District. To date we have raised over $800,000
for research and specialist equipment and services for regional centres including Ballarat, Bairnsdale, Echuca and Bendigo.

Our 2018 Mission

In 2018 our donations will be directed to improved prostate services in regional NSW centres. We have set a fund-raising target of $300,000 so we can supply biopsy machines to regional centres. But we want to raise more and improve the lives of patients, families and communities.

The Male Bag Ride, October 2018

Saturday 20 to Sunday 28 October.

The ride leaves and ends in Melbourne, with a hosted reception for all supporters. It covers 2000km in 9 days for 30 riders. There are openings for those who whish to join the ride for a day or weekend.

The ride visits some major NSW cities and Canberra. There will be evening events with service and community groups, and VIP events in Canberra and on return to Melbourne.
