- Our Annual Male Bagger’s Banquet will run as soon as Covid 19 protocols allow us to involve our members from across Australia.
- Our planned October 2020 Big Postie Bike Ride to raise funds for transperineal biopsy machines for South Australia’s Riverland/Mallee/Coorong and Limestone Coast Health Networks is now proposed for March March/April 2021. While Covid 19 may have stalled our fund-raising activities, we are totally committed to meet our pledge of $120,000 to equip these Networks with the latest biopsy machines. They will become the first regional health networks in SA to offer leading edge prostate biopsies – a game change for men in the bush.
- Male Bag Foundation Board Meeting in August 2020 will consider projects for 2021-22. We welcome expressions of interest from interested regional health providers.
Due to the need for social isolation all Male Bag Foundation events scheduled for 2020 have had to be put on hold. As such planned Annual Dinner and the 2020 October fundraising ride will be postponed indefinitely.
Prior to the directed Covid-19 travel and social isolation restrictions the Foundation had partnership agreements in place with the Riverland/Mallee/ Coorong and Limestone Coast Health Networks.
Those communities the Male Bag Foundation has supported in recent years know the benefits of having a trans perennial biopsy machine (TPBM). There is no doubt that a locally operated TPBM is life saving for men with suspected prostate cancer and life changing for local communities.
Even though our 2020 fundraising opportunities have stalled our Board has agreed to make immediate grants of $30,000 to each Network. The Board looks forward to the commissioning of TPBMs in 2021 when we are able finalise the second round of grants to each recipient.
